Hand crafted, with pride, in the U.S.A.
Yes, Ford makes drums. That said, the Ford Drum Company is not affilated with the Ford Motor Company. Nor is it related to the Ford Modeling Agency. Nor the Ford Theater. Nor president Ford. Rather, we are named after one of the partners, Jimmy Ford.
Jimmy is truly a mesmerizing talent. For more than six years he was Lionel Hampton's "go-to" guy. He is a busy session drummer. He entertains guests regularly at Disneyland Park. Audiences throughout southern California take delight in his playing with noted big bands, trios and quartets. He continually dazzles audiences with his tribute to Buddy Rich. And he is one heck of a drum builder.
The other guy, Jay Gaylen, is a drum enthusiast. He picked up the sticks at the age of seven but for most of his adult life, Jay was a marketing guy. He developed award-winning ad campaigns for some of the biggest brands in the country. His creative work also includes a number of musical instrument manufacturers such as Gretsch Drums, Gibraltar Hardware, Toca Percussion, Hamer, Ovation and Takamine Guitars. And, he is a meticulous drum craftsman.
Together, Jimmy and Jay set out to do one thing: craft the finest drums and related products on the planet. Ford will not manufacture a commodity. We are creating heirloom instruments and accessories. We won't settle for less. Why should you?
